Kids Care, too!

The children in Christ Church's Sunday School have been using their weekly collection plate donations to buy chickens, goats and rabbits.

They aren't starting their own petting zoo - they're joining the mission of Heifer International to end hunger in the world. Heifer International is an organization with the simple idea of giving families a resource of food rather than short-term relief. Today, millions of families in 115 countries have been given the gifts of self-reliance and hope. So far the children have collected enough money to buy 3 rabbits, a flock of chickens, tree seedlings and a 50% share of a goat. To learn more about this wonderful outreach mission, talk to the children, staff of our Sunday School or visit Heifer's website at www.heifer.org.

"The idea behind Heifer … is similar to the notion that it's better to teach a man to fish so he can feed himself than to give him a fish that will feed him just once. One animal could eventually benefit an entire community." — Associated Press

"Heifer International works in the most impoverished areas on Earth. Although, it does not give medicine, food, clothes or education, it offers a means for families to earn those things." — The Los Angeles Times

Heifer "is unique in its program to directly aid people around the world. ... With this project you get a much greater sense of a person-to-person relationship, which is very important." — Walter Cronkite, former managing editor and anchor of the CBS evening news
